Come To Me

Come to me, my darling
Come find where I stay
Alone on the hillside
Enjoying this day

I miss you so sorely
My life's in your hands
You and the Maker
Are making my plans

The babe that I'd lived for
Now draining away
Scared off by the evil
It felt yesterday

I lose you, too, daily
To the bottles you drain
They close up your mind
And befuddle your brain

My Faith is what keeps me
Alive and alight
But for you, the booze
Seems to hold greater might

Than all of my love
And all of my beauty
When the evil has got you
You have all my pity

I love you, my darling
'Tho you cause me such pain
And I don't know how long
I can live with the strain
