Missing
people round the full
Thanksgiving table
Some have
died and some have
chosen other paths
Tears fall
down when we think
of loved ones missing
Being
thankful's harder this
year than the past
Counting
blessings is obscured
by feeling losses
Although we
are still grateful,
thanking God
For the
lessons and the blessings
this year gave us
Sorting
blessings from the
losses feels so hard
This is
the first year Dad will
not be with us
To
celebrate this day of giving
thanks
I'm sure
there'll be a big
feast up in Heaven
Dad will
have his fill of turkey
in those ranks
But we
left here just can't
help but still miss him
Still hard
to think of Dad
not being there
At home
with family gathered
all around him
With all
the love and joy that
families share
Missing
people round the full
Thanksgiving table
Some have
died and some have
chosen other paths
Tears fall
down when we think
of loved ones missing
Being
thankful's harder this
year than the past
And my
dear friend who chose
to take the fool's path
Was part of
all our celebrations
here
Hard to
think that this year
he'll be missing
There have
been a lot of changes
this past year
But
somehow we are always counting
blessings
We take the
pain and losses
with the good
Sort
through grief to try and
find the lessons
Thank God
for those still here
to share the food
Thanksgiving
Day is going to
be painful
Although
we'll give our heartfelt
gratitude
And take
the time to really
teach our children
That
Thanksgiving is about
so much more than food
